Campus Network
ITSC is responsible for planning, constructing, and maintaining campus network resources. These network resources include VPN,Eduroam,Camups Wifi,Campus Network.
VPN service provides an off-campus secure connection to the campus network for:
Remote access to campus online resources;
Access LRC e-resources;
Other intranet access systems and applications.
Installation Steps
BNBU Campus VPN Service Guideline
The Dkey Token must be activated, if you need support, please contact ITSC at itsc_support@uic.edu.cn.
Only one device can connect to the VPN at any time with your own user ID; please contact ITSC to unbind your Dkey Token when install in other cellphones.
Every connection will last for 3 hour. User can reconnect the VPN again after termination.
Eduroam (education roaming) is the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community. It allows BNBU staff and students to obtain Internet connectivity when visiting other participating institutions by using BNBU username and password.
At present, the first phase of campus has achieved full coverage of WIFI, and teachers and students can connect using UIC account.
The ITSC (Information Technology Services Centre)is responsible for the planning, implementation, and maintenance of the campus network.)All network-related requirements of the university must be submitted to the ITSC for centralized planning and implementation. Network resources, including on-campus cabling, fiber optic cables, servers, network equipment, and bandwidth, are centrally managed and allocated by the ITSC.
1. Main Components of the Campus Network
The campus network consists of two main parts: an Office and Academic Network covering public areas such as offices (or on-duty stations), classrooms, libraries, gymnasiums, performance halls, and activity centers; and a Student Network covering the student dormitories.
2. Network Access and Maintenance in Office, Academic, and Public Areas
Network users in offices (or on-duty stations), classrooms, libraries, and activity centers can access the campus network via a wired connection through fixed wall ports installed in these locations. Alternatively, users may connect wirelessly to the campus network via the designated Wi-Fi using WLAN-enabled devices. The wired and wireless networks in these office, academic, and public areas are directly managed and maintained by the ITSC. Network fault reports for these areas are handled directly by the ITSC.
3. Network Access and Maintenance in Student Dormitories
Student network users in the dormitories utilize network access services provided by external telecom operators (e.g., China Telecom, China Mobile, or China Unicom). Students are responsible for applying directly to these operators to activate and use their internet access services. The access, use, management, and maintenance of this portion of the network are the responsibility of the respective operators. Consequently, any network faults should be reported directly to the corresponding Internet Service Provider (ISP).
